Enrolment Guide for the Modern Tongue Diagnosis English Class
Yin's Modern Tongue Diagnosis has successfully conducted 16 online training courses and 3 advanced in-person workshops. Additionally, training sessions have been held in the UK, the US, China, Malaysia, Switzerland, and other countries. Prof. Hongchun Yin generously shares his extensive and unique expertise in tongue diagnosis, along with his clinical experience, greatly benefiting TCM practitioners globally and earning widespread acclaim.
What is Modern Tongue Diagnosis?
Modern tongue diagnosis builds upon traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) tongue diagnosis, integrating holographic biology theory along with the innovations and expertise of Prof. Hongchun Yin and other contemporary doctors. This method represents a new approach to tongue-based diagnosis and treatment.
Building on the knowledge of his predecessors, Prof. Yin further refined the holographic aspects of the tongue, creating the most comprehensive holographic tongue diagnostic map to date. He also made a groundbreaking discovery of the distribution patterns of glands in the head and neck, earning multiple patents in tongue diagnosis. Modern tongue diagnosis not only marks a significant advancement in TCM diagnostic techniques, particularly in tongue-based disease diagnosis, but also enhances the traditional eight-principles of syndrome differentiation by introducing two additional principles: the ascending and descending movements of qi. This innovation elevates the precision of syndrome differentiation to new heights.
Modern tongue diagnosis stands out for two key reasons:
First, it allows for accurate disease diagnosis and syndrome differentiation using tongue signs alone. Before a patient speaks, a practitioner can often determine their illness based on the appearance of their tongue, greatly enhancing patient confidence in the doctor. This approach significantly improves the accuracy of syndrome differentiation, a challenge for many TCM practitioners. After systematic training, students can achieve remarkable improvements in their diagnostic and syndrome differentiation skills.
Second, modern tongue diagnosis features a unique symptom-free treatment system based solely on tongue signs. In this approach, both medication and acupuncture are prescribed according to the tongue’s appearance. This allows practitioners to identify the appropriate herbs and acupoints with just a glance at the tongue, leading to greater precision in needle application and treatment outcomes.
Course Content
This training course primarily focuses on the core aspects of modern tongue diagnosis, including the exclusive tongue diagnosis hologram, the theory of the tongue's midline, and an analysis of the four meridians: Ren, Du, Chong, and Dai. It also offers a comprehensive explanation of the ten-principles of syndrome differentiation. Additionally, the course covers the representation of the five sense organs of the head and face, and the glands in the head and neck as they appear on the tongue, along with the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases. Topics such as the three-burner organs displayed on the tongue and their corresponding symptoms, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of conditions like skin diseases, mental illnesses, tumors, diabetes, hyperuricemia, and limb joint diseases, are included. Students will also learn about the nine-square grid and six meridians on the tongue, with detailed instruction on how to use acupuncture and herbal medicine based on tongue diagnosis, among other topics.
Teaching Method
The course will be delivered entirely via Zoom, with a small amount of homework assigned after each session. PDF course materials and recordings will be provided to all students. The instructor and teaching assistants will address common queries, and students can ask questions at any time in the teaching group, where they will receive responses from the instructor and assistants. All participants are required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Teaching Schedule
Classes will be held every Tuesday and Friday at 7:30 pm (UK time) on Zoom, lasting 60 minutes each. Students can access lecture recordings and PowerPoint slides at any time, ensuring flexibility across different time zones. Homework correction and question-answer sessions will take place in the online group from Monday to Saturday. The course totals approximately 30 teaching hours.
After completing the course, students may continue studying in future tongue diagnosis courses for free. All participants can join the case-sharing discussion group to present and analyze challenging clinical cases. With guidance from Prof. Yin and other instructors, they can refine their pathogenesis analysis and treatment plans using herbal medicine and acupuncture, further enhancing their clinical skills.

Testimonials
Dr. Chen Hua (UK) shared her experience with modern tongue diagnosis:
"The instructor provided comprehensive instruction, covering everything from tongue diagnosis to the use of needles and herbal medicine, seamlessly integrating diagnosis and treatment. Not only did he teach us thoroughly, but he also created a discussion group where we could consult with him about diagnoses, acupuncture, and medications. He answered all our questions with great patience, for which I am deeply grateful. This class was the most valuable learning experience I've had. The teacher's approach is straightforward and clear, making the theory simple and easy to grasp."
Dr. Zheng Jiang (USA) expressed her appreciation for modern tongue diagnosis:
"In my heart, my pulse diagnosis teacher Dr. Hammer and tongue diagnosis teacher Dr. Yin are truly bodhisattvas, sharing their knowledge selflessly and answering all questions with no reservations. Beyond the systematic theory of tongue diagnosis, Teacher Yin also shared a wealth of clinical knowledge and experience, both ancient and modern, from China and abroad. As a Chinese medicine practitioner with 36 years of clinical experience, I found this invaluable. These teachings have greatly enriched my practice. I have a busy outpatient clinic four days a week, and the application of tongue diagnosis and clinical techniques has significantly improved my treatment outcomes."
